Hi, I’m Leo

Sawadee krup! I’m Leo, and I’m one of the newer Jai dogs on The Farm.

Before I came to live here, life was very different. Every day was a struggle for survival, and simple tasks like finding food or safely crossing the road was a life or death trial.

Sometimes the urgency to eat overtakes and, one day without looking, I crossed a busy road and before I knew it everything went dark. When I finally came round, the pain was unbearable and my legs didn’t work. I tried to get to safety but each step was agony and I couldn’t carry myself.

I waited for two weeks at the side of the road, for someone to see me and help. Both my back legs were fractured and the bone had become infected. I knew I didn’t have long left.

Thankfully, the Jai Dog Rescue team were alerted to my injury and rushed to help me. Unfortunately, the infection had spread to the bone and there was nothing that could be done to save my back legs. I thought they’d take one look at me and decide I was too sick to help: but not these people! They whisked me off to the vet where I had surgery, when I woke up the pain was gone and we spent the next few weeks helping my body to heal.

Best foot forward

I’m still learning how to get used to my new life…

I now get to lay in. I don’t have to worry about the heat either as I have my own personal fan when its hot, oh and I can’t forget to tell you the best bit… I get two meals a day, every day!! No more wandering around for hours on end to get a few morsels, I get my meals served to me in a silver bowl!

I am still learning how to interact with my new caretakers. I want to show the same love and affection that they show me, but I have met a lot of unfriendly people in my past life and I’m finding it hard to trust, but the Jai Dog Rescue team are very patient.

Learning every day

Since I’ve lived here and been gifted the safety of The Farm, I’m getting more confident with each passing day!

My disabilities don’t hold me back: in fact, they show the world just how strong and resilient dogs like me really are.

Am I your perfect match?

I might not be able to come and live with you, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be your perfect dog!

If you’d like to sponsor me, the lovely people at Jai Dog Rescue will send you regular updates and pictures to let you know how your generous support is helping me live my best life.

Why I need sponsoring

After my injury, I didn’t think I’d be able to walk again. Even when I was given the emergency treatment to help me pull through, I was resigned to the idea that life would be less fun. In fact, I was tempted to give up on humans all together.

It was only thanks to the patience and gentle persistence of the Jai Dog Rescue team that I slowly started to change my mind and realise that life still had plenty to offer.

I now trust the Jai Dog Rescue team completely, and know that they’ll look after me no matter what. They understand exactly what I need, and I’d miss them too much if I had to leave. I know I’m not the easiest dog to care for, but I’m so grateful that there are humans in my life who look past my disability and see me for me.

What your sponsorship will fund

As a dog who nearly lost everything, I know just how important safety is. Not only do I have the freedom to live without the fear of further pain or suffering, but access to a wheelchair gives me the most important gift of all: the freedom to move.

Your sponsorship helps me, and other disabled dogs like me, to keep rolling through life! My wheelchair is a lifeline for me, but I know it’s something of a luxury: many disabled dogs can only dream of being able to run freely again. What’s more, having a member of staff at the shelter who can strap me in and take me for a spin means I can exercise daily, and enjoy life to its fullest.

Thanks to your support, I know there’ll always be someone to look after me on The Farm. You’ll also be helping to provide specialist equipment and therapy to any new arrivals who’ve suffered debilitating injuries.

Reclaim Gift Aid

Gift Aid It!

Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Jai Dog Rescue to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Jai Dog Rescue we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

I am a UK taxpayer and understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in the current tax year than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations it is my responsibility to pay any difference.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like Jai Dog Rescue to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Jai Dog Rescue will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Jai Dog Rescue receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.
